One is the first song of my album “Made For Jesus”. It’s based on and quotes many scripture passages (Ephesians 4: 1-16, John 17: 22, 1 Corinthians 10: 16-17, Psalm 63: 1-5, etc.). It came from the idea of doing a song for each of the Four Marks of the Church (One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic). Being as such it is also based on teachings in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 813-822, 1362-1372, 1394, 1396, 1398).

The song has done a great job of encouraging singing and prayer at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fresno, CA, my home church. We recently sang it as part of the Life Teen Retreat “In Reverse“, which is based on the Lord’s Prayer (and the book The “R” Father by Mark Hart). I sometimes put the outro (Make us one, as You are one) throughout the song, because it’s the easiest part for people to catch onto. It also is the most prayerful part of the song.

This being my first album, it’s not out there too much yet. If you’d like to use this song at your church you can download a chord chart. You can find the song on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify. If you use it, I’d love to hear about it, especially if you use CCLI.
