Paul often referred to our faith walk as a race. I’ve always loved that imagery, not just because I ran track, but because we need to condition our minds, souls and bodies for the journey ahead.

11. The Fall by Gungor

Last year Gungor gave us “Beautiful Things” which was a beautiful song that was great for church. This year there really wasn’t a song on the album that fit into worship well. This song, however, is still a really beautiful song to God.

10. Let Me Feel You Shine by David Crowder Band

I really can’t move this song any higher on the list since it came out right at the end of the year, but I am really looking forward to getting the last album by David Crowder Band. The concept of the album is a Requiem Mass. This song continues the bands path of putting out solid, modern worship music.

9. Unending Songs by Leeland

I think beautifully simplistic choruses are the most conducive to worship. I actually haven’t used this song yet at church, but I’ve really enjoyed singing along with the record.

8. All My Fountains by Nathan Nockels, Daniel Carson, Chris Tomlin & Christy Nockels

I really want to play this song at a baptism and can’t wait to use it for Easter. It’s got a great rhythm to it.

7. Search My Heart by Joel Houston & Matt Crocker

This is one of those songs that sounds like it’s perpetually building, which is an awesome feeling in worship. With all the worship leaders and song writers at Hillsong it’s no wonder they’re able to write songs for the church.

6. On My Way by Matt Maher

I love this song. It’s got a great country anthem feeling to it. It has the same appeal that “Hold Us Together” has. It reminds me of Paul writing about his faith walk being a race. We’re on our way together.

5. Run to the Cross by Sarah Kroger

At the Stuebenville Youth Conference the teens fell in love with this song.

4. Go by Matt Crocker

Follows in the footsteps of “Take it All”, which is still one of the teens favorite songs. It has the same upbeat anthem, rock song feel and both songs are about giving everything to God.

3. Forever Reign by Jason Ingram & Reuben Morgan

Another song that has the feeling that it is constantly building. It could have a place in my heart since I’m really a huge fan of Paul’s thoughts on the faith walk being a race. I am also a huge sucker for worship songs that have a multiple chorus feeling parts.

2. Hope is Dawning by Aaron Keyes, Johnny Parks, Matt Maher, & Michael Gungor

I love how this song has three verses to calling upon the three persons of God. It’s an amazing call to worship. I think in the Mass it works wonderfully as an entrance song or preparation of the gifts song.

1. Lord, I Need You by Matt Maher, Daniel Carson, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, & Jesse Reeves

This is by far the best worship song of the year. When using this song I’ve heard the most participation of any new song I’ve ever used. It also puts everyone in a calm and open state. It puts me in a calm and open state. It’s just a beautifully simple song that the church needs to sing.
